Bundles of Eid joy arrive
Bundles of Eid joy arrive Olivia Olarte-Ulherr / 9 August 2013 Blessings came in abundance for many couples on Thursday with the arrival of their tiny bundles of joy exactly on the first day of Eid Al Fitr at the Corniche Hospital. First to arrive at 13 minutes after midnight was baby boy Alby Abraham to proud mum Sosamma Anu. At 3.4kg, Alby, whose name means “God is great” in Malayalam, is a welcome gift for the family. “He is my first boy,” said Sosamma who already have two older daughters. “I just believe God is great. My husband’s father passed away at the start of Ramadan this year and this one came at the end of Ramadan. My husband was crying, he said ‘my father has gone and he came back again though this baby’,” she said. Baby girl Oshba Sultan Saif Al Qubaisi was due to be born on August 5 but decided to bide her time for the most opportune day. Oshba was born at 3.55am,” said Amena Jaber Al Hammadi. The Emirati mum of now three had made plans to spend Eid Al Fitr in Dubai with her family for a short vacation. “But all my schedule is now cancelled,” said Amena who is not in the least bit unhappy. In fact, the entire family is ecstatic with Oshba’s arrival. “I am very happy. This is second Eid for me because we have Eid then, we got the baby this Eid, which is very nice. She is also my first girl. From the beginning, my husband has always wanted a girl; he loves to have a girl too much. This is a dream come true, Alhamdulilla,” Amena said happily of her 3.7kg bundle. Baby girl Madeea Mansoor, meanwhile, couldn’t wait to come out. “She was two weeks early… immediately she wants to come,” said mum Mariam Al Dhaheri, pleased that the Emirati girl chose to come out on the first day of Eid at 5.36am. “Alhamdulilla, it is very nice,” Mariam said of her second baby girl who weighs 3kg. According to assistant director of nursing at the hospital Jocelyn Christodoulides, the first day of Eid was a busy day with already 16 deliveries by 2pm. “We have four more in labour.
